Advanced Placement United States History is a challenging course designed to provide students with the analytic skills and factual knowledge necessary to deal critically with the problems and materials in United State history.  It is a year-long survey course of American history, from the Pre-Columbian era to the present.  Solid reading and writing skills, along with a willingness to devote considerable time to homework and study, are necessary to succeed.  Emphasis is placed on critical and evaluative thinking skills, essay writing, interpretation of original documents, and historiography.
